More Thoughts on Creativity

Last fall I wrote about how as a society we have lost our creativity. When I wrote last time I spent time talking about how one of my son’s started playing stickball on his own. This week he and some of his friends found out that stickball is much like regular t-ball. They had a blast with a simple tee and a stick from a tree. I hope they keep much of that creativity as they get older.

What happened to creativity?

As I sit here and watch my middle son play stickball, (yes, he is using a stick from a tree and hitting a ball off a tee) it makes me wonder where our creativity has gone. Is it that we lose our creativity as we get older, or has our culture grown so used to instant entertainment that there is no need for creativity? In today’s world of video games, TV, and internet entertainment have we lost the creativity of coming up with games like stickball?
